The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of literary education at school education in the period of Modern Enlightenment. In the times, the value of the medieval literary education had been denied, but the modern literary education had been formed. In those days, there were not a subject about literature at school education. The thema of Korean subject was literacy on the Korean alphabet and the Chinese characters. The concept and the range of literature in the textbooks was same as those of literature in the middle ages. There were texts including qualities of a play and a narrative in the textbooks. Those qualities was made use of for teaching/ learning. Those texts would have affected the formation of the Modern literature’s play and narrative.
