본 논문은 소셜미디어를 활용하여 사회공익활동의 활성화 가능성을 탐색적으로 연구하였다. 최근 소셜미디어를 활용하여 활성화된 사회공익활동 사례들을 수집하여 조직화, 정보교류, 지지자동원, 자금 모금 측면에서 소셜미디어의 특성이 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 첫째, 조직화측면에서는 기존의 수직적 위계와 수평적 네트워크가 결합된 새로운 형태의 조직이 등장하였다. 이는 조직의 확장뿐만 아니라 지속적인 활동으로 이어질 수 있는 효율적인 형태이다. 둘째, 정보교류 측면에서는 정보의 생산, 공유 및 확산이 지지자들에 의해 자발적으로 일어났다. 네트워크 연결성과 편리한 공유기능, 정보의 공개는 활발한 정보교류로 이어지게 하였다. 셋째, 지지자동원측면에서는 확장된 네트워크의 연결로 시간적, 공간적 제약을 넘어 많은 지지자들의 참여를 이끌어냈다. 특히 소셜미디어를 적극적으로 사용하고 있는 새로운 계층을 지지자 영역으로 끌어들이고 있었다. 넷째, 자금모금 측면에서는 공감대가 형성된 많은 지지자들의 동원은 자금모금으로 적극적으로 이어질 수 있게 하였고, 웹이나 소셜미디어를 통한 간단한 직접 기부로 이어지게 하여 자금모금의 효율을 높였다. 연구결과, 소셜미디어의 활용은 모든 측면에서 시민들의 자발적인 참여를 이끌어내어 사회공익활동의 활성화에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 사회공익활동의 효율을 높이고 활성화를 위해서 소셜미디어의 적극적인 활용을 제안하였다.
This paper conducts researches in the possibility to activate the social contribution movement through the application of the social media. From the actual cases of the social contribution movement activated by the social media it analyses the effects of the character of the social media in terms of systematization, communication, supporter participation and fund-raising. Firstly, the new kind of systematization appeared in the form of the combination of the existing vertical hierarchy and the horizontal network. That is the efficient form capable of expanding the systematization and continuing the consistent activity. Secondly, the production ,the co-ownership and the diffusion of information was spontaneously created by the supporters. The network connection, the information sharing and the openness lead to more active communication. Thirdly, the expanded network connection drew a lot of supporters beyond the time and space barrier. Especially the new participants in the social media became the active supporters. Lastly, we found that lots of active supporters could be the direct donators by way of web and social media. That led to the efficient fund-raising. The conclusion of this study is that the social media can pull the voluntary participation on all activities and influence be the activation of the social contribution movement in a positive way.
