이 연구는 평생교육기관을 중심으로 전통음악인 민요교육의 문제점과 대중화를 위한 방향성을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법은 문헌연구와 민요학습자들의 인터뷰를 병행하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 민요교육은 학교교육에서부터 현재보다 더 체계적으로 가르칠 필요가 있다는 점이다. 초중등학교에서짧은 시간 가르쳐지는 전통음악 수업과 노래로 어린학생들에게 민요에 대한 흥미를 이끌어내기는 어렵다는 점이다. 둘째, 전국에서 국악을 가르치는 대학은 서울대를 비롯하여 24개 정도에 불과하므로, 적극적인인재양성 시스템의 변화를 가져와야 한다. 셋째, 민요는 대부분 성인여성들이 배우고자 한다는 점이다. 따라서 여성중심의 지원이 집중적으로 이루어질 필요가있다. 넷째, 우리의 전통음악을 K-pop과 더불어 다양한 국가의 음악과 결부시켜 새로운 음악을 창조해내는노력이 필요하다. 전통이라는 이름에 갇혀서 다른 음악과의 융·복합이 적극적으로 이루어지지 않으면 미래는 매우 불투명하다는 점이다. 다섯째, 전통음악의대중화를 위해 정부지원과 국악인들의 노력이 조화를이루어야 한다. 정부나 지자체의 다양한 지원에도 불구하고 소수 국악인들의 전유물로 이루어지는 각종 행사와 교육기회는 더욱더 많은 국악인들로 확대되어야한다. 여섯째, 민요의 대중화를 위해 누구나 쉽게 부를수 있는 민요의 재창조가 이루어져야 한다. 지금처럼타고난 재능을 요구하는 음악으로 남는다면 대중화는요원하다는 점이다. 일곱째, 대중들에게 민요를 배울수 있는 접근기회가 더욱 확대되어야 한다. 즉, 평생학습기관에서 민요를 가르치고 배울 수 있도록 지자체의지원과 지역주민들의 호응이 뒷받침되어야 한다.
The study is lifelong education institutions into the center of traditional folk musicians being taught was trying to find problems and direction for the popularization of education. For the research method, literature review and interviews were carried out. First, the folk music education from school education is that there was a need to teach more systematically than currently. Traditional songs and music classes taught in primary and secondary school a short time that it is difficult to elicit interest of students. Second, the university teaching traditional music from all over the country, so only about 24, including S NU, must bring positive changes in the human resources system. Third, the folk music is mostly that adult women are trying to learn. Therefore, intensive needs to be achieved by the support of female heart. Fourth, our traditional music with K-pop effort that is needed to create new music in conjunction with a variety of country music. Fifth, for the popularity of traditional music we sever the connection between the efforts of government support and traditional musicians. Sixth, and everyone made a re-creation of folk songs that you can easily call for the popularization of folk songs. Seventh, the general public, a folk song should be further expanded opportunities to access that can learn.
