본 연구는 피겨스케이팅 중계방송 해설의 전문성 제고 방안을 찾기 위해 2014 소치 동계올림픽 김연아 피겨스케이팅 경기를 중계한 KBS, MBC, SBS의 해설 내용을 실증적으로 분석, 문제점을 파악하고 그 대안을모색하였다. 피겨스케이팅은 빙상의 예술이라고 불릴 만큼 기술적인 요소와 예술적인 요소가 모두 평가되는경기이므로 피겨스케이팅 기술은 물론 음악, 안무, 연기, 의상과 같은 예술 부분에 대한 종합적인 해설이 요구되나 기술요소, 특히 점프의 성공 여부를 중심으로 해설이 이루어지고 있는 문제점이 지적되었다. 이에 피겨스케이팅 경기 해설자들은, ISU 채점 기준인 기술요소와 예술요소를 균형감 있게 소개하고, 점프 요소에편중되는 것이 아니라 스텝, 스핀 등 기술 제반 요소 및 배경 음악, 안무, 연기, 의상 등 예술 제반 요소를시청자들에게 조화롭고 상세하게 전달하도록 노력해야 할 것이다.
Figure skating is called an art sport on ice, grading certain difficult athletic tasks and aesthetic presentation such as musical choice, choreography, appearance and costume. Sports commentators have a role to provide expert analysis and background information holistically to audience. However, analysis of KBS, MBC and SBS relay shows that their commentators tend to mention technical aspects especially focusing on accomplishment of jumps, neglecting to explain artistic and cultural aspects of figure skating. Therefore, this study suggests that figure skating broadcast commentation should be balanced and professional as to explain and describe both technical terms and artistic background of a sport of figure skating.
