필자는 이 논문에서 한편 예수 그리스도의 죽음에 담긴 생명의 부정으로서의 폭력적 죽음에 대한 사회적이고 신학적인 해석과 그 폭력적 죽음에도 불구하고 그 죽음에 하나님이 존재의 방식으로 참여하고연대했다는 생각이 21세기 한국사회의 죽음 이해와 자살예방을 위해매우 중요함을 주장한다. 나아가 예수 그리스도의 죽음을 이 시대의 생명파괴의 현실 속에서 하나님나라에 비추어 이해할 것을 제안하고 예수 그리스도의 죽음이 담아내는 보편적이고 공적인 성격을 재조명하면서, 오늘의 시대정신에 비추어 예수 그리스도의 죽음을 인간을 포함한온 생명을 위한 가장 보편적이고 공적인 죽음으로 이해를 확장하고 고양시킬 것을 제안한다. 다른 한편, 현세를 긍정하고 죽음을 부정하는 한국인들의 전반적인생사관을 고려하면서, 필자는 현재 한국사회의 높은 자살률의 이유들가운데 하나를 변증법적 사유의 빈곤에서 찾는다. 이런 면에서 예수 그리스도의 죽음에서 드러난 생명의 부정으로서의 기독교의 죽음에 대한이해는 바로 한국인의 삶과 죽음에 대한 변증법적인 인식과 태도의 결핍을 보완해서 자살예방을 위한 한국적 생사관의 재형성에 기여할 수있을 것으로 본다.
In this essay the author on the one hand argues that social and theological reflection on violent death as the denial of life revealed in the death of Jesus Christ and God’s ontological solidarity with such violent death is greatly significant for the understanding of death and suicide prevention in the Korean society of the early 21st Century. Furthermore, while proposing to understand the death of Jesus Christ in the light of the Kingdom of God in and re-illuminating the universality and publicity of the death of Jesus Christ, the author suggests that in the light of the spirit of the times the death of Jesus Christ should be extended and sublimated as the most universal and public death for all life including human beings. On the other hand, the author attempts to find one of reasons of the high rate of suicide in the contemporary Korean society, considering the passionate affirmation of life and the strong negation of death in Korean typical understanding, in the poverty of a dialectical thought between life and death. In this respect, Christian understanding of the death as ‘the negation of life’ in Jesus Christ will contribute to the reformation of Korean understanding of life and death in terms of supplementing the poverty of a dialectical thought in Korean conception and attitude concerning life and death.
