도시이미지는 시민에게 있어서 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있으며 도시환경을 아름답고 활기차게 만드는데 필요하다. 따라서 도시에 살고 있는 우리는 좋은 도시이미지를 형성하고 나아가 도시의 정체성(identity)을 확립하여 쾌적한 도시환경을 만들어 나가야 할 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 도시 이미지와 관련된 연구 문헌들을 탐색하여 이미지에 대한 명확한 정의를 정립하고, 도시이미지에 관련된 선행연구들을 통해 도시의 주요 이미지를 형성하는 구성요인들을 도출하였다. 또한 부산시의 시민들의 설문을 통하여 부산의 단순응답 이미지, 부산의 도시이미지맵(city image map) 그리고 현장조사 및 전문가의 의견을 비교·분석하였다. 그 결과 도시 구성요소별 이미지요소를 도출함으로써 향후 도시이미지 연구에 있어 시사점을 제공하고 있다.
The city image is charging important role for the citizen and it is necessary to make the city beautiful and lively. So people have to make the good city form with the identity. Kevin Lynch suggest the city's main element are path, landmark, node, edge, district. In the basis of Kevin Lynch suggestion, the author set up clear definition about the city image through research article and literatures. And this do field study in city of Busan area with men-to-men survey and city image map. In the aspect of 5 elements, the author suggests what are the main elements, how can the citizen think and what is important elements in urban planning.
