As world history education is currently facing an extreme crisis, a new strategy is desperately required for the solution. This study compares Korea's world history curriculum and that of overseas countries to derive a few major issues and proposes a new curriculum strategy. The new curriculum strategy are as follows. First, certain contents in world history should be explored and contained in elementary school education in order to help students establish fundamental awareness in understanding history and the world. Second, History subject of junior high schools should be reorganized to interrelate the world history with Korean history. In this case, the contents of the World History subject may be organized according to its historical relationships with Korea or the major issues in it. Third, world history education of high schools is required to organize the provision of mandatory and optional parts. The mandatory world history subject includes the holistic views (not comprehensive views) and the optional world history contains more varied themes and views. Thus, world history curriculum can be based on the optimal sequence.
