This study aims to develop a parallel learning model of Korean and Korean culture through literary works. With regard to selection of a literary work, I established the cultural syllabus of lectures focusing on the perspective culture which has become an important factor of cultural clash and culture shock and plays a pivotal role in circumstances of Korean communication. This research also suggested the parallel learning model of Korean and Korean culture(literature) through literary works. In this study, I selected the literary works mainly regarding the contemporary novels which has high level of preference among the entire literature genres based on the results of learners’ demand survey. Here in the sample research, I examined it by its part of speech using excel, constructing Yi Munyol’s <Our Twisted Hero> as a corpus. Based on the outcomes of the examination, I classified them into cultural meaning groups focusing on nouns. At the same time, I analyzed them based on the cultural syllabus of lectures of the preceding research which applied the Stewart’s culture theory, Patrick R. Moran’s culture learning theory and onion-like research showing a variety level of Hofstede’s culture. Here, I created texts in order to easily comprehend Korean by adding modern languages as for the vocabularies which are not used in modern daily life culture to increase foreigners’ accessibility regarding texts. In the examples of learning model, I suggested the assignments for each levels in order to make it possible for basic, intermediate and advanced learners to study appropriately and have a parallel learning model of literatures. This study increased the possibility of applying the literary works to language education through classification of part of speech by making contemporary novels as a corpus material. I also tried to enhance the applicability of literary works for professors’ language education by controlling learners’ vocabularies via meta-quantitative research methods. This methodological approach can contribute to increase the usefulness of literary works in a language course. In addition, I believe it has great significance in that we can establish the basic foundation in terms of not only language culture integrated education but also Koreanology via Korean literary works.
