본 연구는 유아들의 효율적인 문식성 지도를 위해 한글의 특성에 기초한 문식성 프로그램을 개발하여 현장에 적용, 그 효과를 검증하고자 이루어졌다. 이를 위해 프로그램의 방향을 설정한 다음 목표, 교육내용, 교수방법을 구성하여 한글의 특성에 기초한 문식성 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발한 프로그램은 유아교육기관에서 15주간 만 4세아 두 학급의 실험집단 15명, 비교집단 15명으로 나누어 적용되었다. 본 프로그램에서 개발된 활동들은 유아의 이름글자와 반 친구 이름으로 구성된 활동으로서 균형적인 언어접근을 원칙으로 하였다. 유아를 대상으로 한 평가를 통해 본 프로그램은 유아의 읽기 능력, 쓰기 능력에 있어 효과적이었으며 이와 같은 결과는, 한글의 특성에 기초한 문식성 프로그램이 유아의 문어능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 효과적인 대안이라는 결론을 얻었다.
This study developed implemented and evaluated a literacy program based on the characteristics of Hangeul, the Korean alphabet, focusing on the charaters in the children's names. The developmental characteristics of young children were considered in the process of the program's development, implementation, and evaluation. The program was implemented for 15 weeks with 30 children. The results of this study show the program to be significantly effective as a teaching and assessment tool in early Korean literacy education for young children. It is therefore recommended that a balanced approach using the characters in the young early childhood students' names be used to facilitate their written-language ability.
