The purpose of this study is to develop a mathematics activity program based on cooperative problem-solving for young children, and to explore its applicability and its effects on children's mathematics ability, mathematics attitude, learning-related social skills. The following three steps were used in constructing this cooperative problem-solving based program: 1) reviewing and analyzing relevant materials, programs and research on mathematics education and cooperative activity for young children, 2) constructing the mathematics activity program, and 3) verifying the program by content validity. Fifty-seven children rendns, enrolled in tpr classics t kindergartens located in G City. One class of 29 children was assigned to the experimental group and the other class of 28 children to the control group. The experimental group engaged in a mathematics activity program based on cooperative problem-solving with 24 activities for three times a week, while the control group engaged in individual mathematics activities of the same theme. Analysis of the data obtained from the two groups demonstrates that the cooperative problem- solving mathematics activity program developed in this research is effective in improving children’s mathematical ability, attitude and learning-related social skills. This result implies that a mathematics activity program based on cooperative problem-solving is eminently suitable for use as a children’s mathematics program aimed at whole-person development.
