본 연구는 다문화가정 방문교육 지도사들의 실제적인 역할과 역할을 수행하면서 겪는 어려움이 무엇인지를 알아보고자 하는 목적에서 이루어졌다. 이를 위하여 다문화 가정 방문 지원 사업에 참여하고 있는 방문교육 지도사 4인을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫 번째로 방문교육 지도사들이 다문화가정을 방문하여 수행하는 실질적인 역할은 다문화 가정 자녀의 놀이 수행자 및 학습지도자, 자녀양육에 필요한 다양한 정보들을 알려주고 다문화 가정 어머니 개인의 성장을 지원하는 부모교육자, 일상에서 일어나는 다양한 문제들을 공감하고 문제를 함께 해결해 나가는 문제해결자 및 조율자의 역할을 수행하고 있었다. 두번째로 방문교육 지도사들의 역할 수행에서 느끼는 어려움은 시간, 재정, 역할경계에서의 모호성, 매뉴얼의 미흡함과 지식 부족, 프로그램의 한시성에 대한 문제로 나타났다.
The purpose of this study is to delineate the practical roles and difficulties facing Visiting Supervisors for multicultural families. For this purpose, 4 Visiting Supervisors participating to this project were interviewed. First we learned through the interviews that the actual roles of Home Visiting Supervisors are playing with children, teaching the children, giving various information to the mother who is responsible for the children’s care, supporting the multicultural mother in her efforts of adjustment and improvement, sharing and solving many of the problems encountered in daily life. Second, the Home Visiting Supervisors cited their difficulties as time, money, ambiguity of role boundary, gap between their Home Visiting Supervisor manual and the reality of their tasks and the limited program duration.
