국제경쟁력 강화를 위해 각국은 근대적 국민국가의 외연을 넓히고자 경제영토, 문화영토를 넓히려고 시도해 왔다. 이러한 질서는 ‘아래로부터 초국가주의’의 일부를 구성하는 디아스포라(diaspora), 즉 세계적으로 분산된 이산민족들을 통해 이루어진다. 세계화시대 이들을 주목하는 이유는 다양한 문화와 특성을 갖고 있는 해외시장을 개척해 가는 데 있어서 다문화적인 능력과 소양을 갖춘 인력의 확보와 활용이 성공의 관건이기 때문이다. 이 논문에서는 세계화와 민족국가의 부활, 혹은 세계시장의 통합과 민족정체성으로의 회귀라는 어울리지 않는 두 현상을 디아스포라 이론을 통해 체계적으로 정의하고, 화교, 인교, 유대인, 코리안 디아스포라의 초국가네트워크 구축에 관한 경험적 사례를 분석했다. 디아스포라의 문제는 더 이상 소수민족의 담론에 머물러 있을 수도 없고, 존재론적 관점에서 각 민족국가 단위의 개발론 혹은 활용론의 대상에 그쳐서는 안된다. 오히려 이들 ‘현상’을 세계화 내지는 초국가주의의 연장선상에서 학문적으로 보다 체계적으로 이론화 하는 작업이 필요하다.

This thesis has written with intention to enlighten the idea related to Diaspora phenomenon which is recently attracting attention. Also efforts have been made to make a systematic explanation to mutually contradictory two phenomenons, in other words globalization and revival of nation state, or mutually insufficient unification of world market and rareness of national identity. At the conclusion part of this thesis researcher makes proposal for theory making jumping over ‘diaspora phenomenon’ and scientific disputes. Diasopra issues can no longer be reviewed from the minority level and it should not be ended being an object of utilization or development of nation state unit. Instead this phenomena needs to be more arranged in theoretical and scientific way in continuation line between globalization and transnationalism.
