일반적으로 학문에서 개념을 분석하여 정리하는 방법에는 여러 가지가 있다. 통상(通商)의 개념을 역사적인 측면에서, 정책적 측면에서, 실무적 측면에서 특히, 그 대상과 주체에서 분석을 할 수 있지만, 본 연구에서는 다른 방법으로 시도해 보고자 한다. 언어로서 통상(通商) 개념 인식을 통한 통상(通商)의 개념에 초점을 맞추고, 사료의 언어의 내용 분석을 통한 함의, 즉 조선시대의 통상에 대한 인식과 세부적인 내용을 살펴보고자 한다. 좀 더 부여하면, 본 연구에서는 조선왕조실록에 나타난 통상(通商)의 용례와 언어로서의 분석을 해 보고자 한다. 개념사적 접근의 기초 전제들을 기반으로 용어에 대한 관심과 사료의 언어를 통해 통상의 개념을 살펴보고, 이를 통해 시사하는 함의를 찾아보고자 한다. 이를 위해 먼저, 언어로서 통상(通商)의 인식과 현재의 통상 인식의 경향을 살펴보며, 이를 기반으로 조선왕조실록에서의 원문과 국문(번역문)의 검색 확인 및 내용 분석을 통해 통상(通商)의 개념 인식을 분석해 보고, 시사하는 함의를 도출해 보고자 한다.
In general, ways of defining the concept of commerce vary. It can be defined from historical views, social policy views, and practical views among others. This study, however, attempts to provide a different perspective to define the term. The search compares the concept used in historical records and in current documents diachronically in order to find out whether there are any differences between traditional usage of the term commerce on the bases of the concept of Commerce(Tong-Sang). To additional explanation, this study is searching The Significance and Characteristics of the Commerce(Tong-Sang) in the Annals of the Choson Dynasty(Choson wangjo silok). The usage-based analysis as given in the present study is significant in that it suggests implications for the direction of commerce in the current society.
