국문요약동아시아의 선사시대 토우는 지역에 따라서 황하상류와 위수 유역, 황하하류역과 장강 하류역, 장강 중류역, 하북성 중부 이북의 동북아시아와 일본열도로 구분되었다. 특히 하북성 중부 이북으로 분류된 동북아시아 문화권 내에서 아무르 하류·연해주·한반도 두만강 하류에서는 특징적인 토우가 출토된다. 이 지역에서는 성별을 구별할 수 없고, 가느다란 몸통에 머리가 각을 이루며 부착되어 머리가 젖혀진 형태를 한 인물상 토우가 출토되는데 이러한 토우를 ‘극동 전신상 토우’로 명명하고자 한다. 동 토우는 동아시아의 요서, 요동지역과 대비해서 재질, 자세, 성별, 출토위치 등의 차이가 있다. 극동 전신상 토우가 가장 먼저 발행한 아무르 하류의 신석기 전기부터 신석기 후기까지 확인되며 얼굴과 몸의 형태 등에서 변화가 보인다. 연해주~두만강 하류에서 토우는 청동기시대에 나타나며 아무르 지역에 비해서 얼굴표현이 없어지고, 단독으로 세울 수 있도록 하반신 부분이 변한 점 등이 관찰된다. 미시적으로 토우는 고아시아족의 木偶와 출토위치 등을 고려해 볼 때 집을 지키는 역할을 하는 것으로 보인다. 더불어 토우가 고고학적 유물로써 이데올로기를 포함한다는 점을 고려해 본다면, 동 토우의 통시적·거시적 역할은 설정된 환동해문화권의 고고학적 표식이 되는 것으로 볼 수 있다.
The prehistoric clay dolls in East Asia were categorized according to regions which include the upper reaches of the Yellow River and Wei basins, the lower reaches of the Yellow River and the lower course of the Yangtze river, the middle course of the Yangtze river, the North East Asia of the middle-upper part of Hebei, Japan's archipelago. However, distinct clay dolls were excavated in the lower part of the Amur River, Primorye and the lower course of the Duman river within the cultural scope of North East Asia. The dolls in those three areas are human figures that have no sexual distinction. Their bodies are slim and their pointed heads are turned over, which haven’t been found in Liao-dong, Liao-xi and Jilin. These dolls shall be called ‘The Far East full-length clay dolls’ The earliest ones among the Far East dolls were made between the beginning and the end of the Neolithic era and there were some changes in face shape among them. In the areas around Primorye and the lower part of the Duman River, the Neolithic full-length dolls have not been discovered yet. The full-length clay dolls of the Bronze Age are the earliest ones until now. Their faces are simpler than the Neolithic ones created in the Amur River and their lower parts were changed so that they could stand up on their own. The Far East clay dolls can be considered to belong to the Pan East Sea culture encompassing the Korean Peninsula and Primorye.
