The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of long-term aerobics on O2max and abdominal fat in obese adolescent and whether the change of %body fat were related to the change of insulin and visceral fat after 20week. The twenty obese adolescents divided into control group (n=10) and aerobics group (n=10). Aerobics program was composed of step touch, down up, sit up et al. and it performed 60 minutes a day, 5 days a week at 50~70% heart rate reserve (HRR) during 20 weeks. %body fat and body mass index (BMI) were significantly decreased, and lean body mass (LBM), HRmax, and O2max were significantly increased after 20 weeks in the aerobics group. Total fat volume (TFV), visceral fat tissue (VFV), subcutaneous fat tissue (SFV), VFV/SFV and insulin resistance index (HOMA index) were significantly decreased. Although, the change rate (△%) of VFV was positively correlated with that of HOMA index, it is negatively correlated with that of O2max in the exercise group. These result suggested that aerobics might improve cardiovascular function, obese and insulin resistance.
