AB - The objectives of this study were to determine the optimum finishing condition on the fabric with synthesized microcapsules containing octadecane, one of the phase change materials(PCMs), and to compare the adhesive methods, Knife-Over-Roll(KOR) and Screen Printing Method(SPM), for coating on the fabrics. The optimum treatment conditions of temperature/time and concentration were 110℃/1min and 30% concentration. The thermostatic property increased as concentration of microcapsules increased. And the thermal properties after repeated laundering decreased after 5 times. In the mechanical properties, such as bending, shear, and tensile, treated fabric by KOR were stiffer, harder, thicker than that by SPM even though the thermal properties were similar, which meant the SPM was more appropriate adhesive method than KOR.
