On the Aesthetic Recreation in Translation through Jenner’s English Version of Journey to the West Journey to the West is a famous literary work winning universal praise. Its English version by W.J.F Jenner is considered excellent. This essay discusses how Jenner reproduces the aesthetic effects in his version from three aspects of the accuracy and equivalence of word selection, aesthetic conception and discourse texture. I concluded that the aesthetic recreation can only be achieved by having an intimate knowledge of the context of the original work, by digging out the deep connotation between the lines, by dealing with it from the discourse texture, and by handling skillfully both languages.

W.J.F.Jenner의 영역본은 사람들 사이에서 회자되는 문학명저인 서유기에 대한 꽤 잘된 번역이다. 본문은 단어선택의 정확도와 대등, 심미의경과 어편 구조 등 세 가지 측면에서 W.J.F.Jenner이 역작에서 심미재현을 어떻게 진행하고, 원저의 상하 문에 정통해야만 원저의 글귀 행간 속에 포함되어있는 심층적인 내용을 발 굴 할 수 있는 것으로, 원작의 모든 편장으로부터 착수하고, 또한 두 가지 언어 를 익숙하게 이용함으로써 역문 중에서 심미적인 재현을 비로소 진행 할 수 있 게 된다.
