본 연구는 한국의 산업별 정보통신자본스톡 자료를 새로 추계하여 ICT 투자가 생산성에 미친 효과를 분석하였다. 1985～1999년 기간에 걸친 산업별 생산함수 추정의 결과 ICT투자가 직접적으로 총요소생산성을 높이고 또 산업간 파급효과를 통해 간접적으로도 생산성의 증가를 가져 온 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 이러한 직접․간접의 생산성증가 효과 모두 컴퓨터, 정밀기기, 정보 통신 산업 등의 ICT 생산 산업들에 한정된 것으로 나타났다.
This study analyzes the importance of ICT (Information Communication Technology) industries in enhancing productivity growth in Korea. For this purpose, we define and construct ICT investment and ICT capital stock data by industry. Based on the constructed data set, we analyze the role of ICT investment and ICT capital stock in enhancing productivity in each industry. Further we investigate the possibility of spillover effects of accumulating ICT capital stock in improving productivity in other industries. We find that ICT investment and ICT capital have contributed significantly in enhancing productivity growth both directly and indirectly by spillover effects in ICT-producing industries, but not in other industries.
