그동안 우리 학계에서 溪 兪好仁에 대해서는 조선 전기 문장가로서 널리 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그가 문장에 특별한 재주가 있었고, 당대 최고의 문장가로 이름을 날린 것은 사실이지만, 본고에서는 특별히 사상적 측면에서 그가 보인 도학적 특성에 대하여 논구하였다. 그는 무엇보다 조선 전기 도학사상사에서 특별한 위치에 있는 畢齋 金宗直의 高弟로서 그에게서 상당한 영향을 받았다. 문장을 중시하고 그 방면에 뛰어난 면을 보인 것은 그의 스승과 무관하다고 보이지 않는다. 특히 뇌계가 도학의 기본서인 소학을 중시하고, 평소 생활에서 소학의 가르침에 누구보다 충실하고자 했던 점은 조선 전기 도학자들의 삶과 전혀 다르지 않다.그는 소학의 가르침 중에서 父母를 섬기는 일에 당시 어떤 학자들보다도 모범을 보였다. 관직 생활을 하는 동안에도 부모 섬기기를 최고 우선 과제로 여겼던 점은 그의 생활이 철저하게 도학적 가르침에 충실하였음을 보여 주는 대표적인 사례이다. 그의 그러한 행동은 孝를 忠보다 우선시 여기는 도학적 진리에 어긋나지 않는다. 그는 또 누구보다 조정에서 言路의 확충에 유의하였다. 그는 특히 경연관으로서 임금을 보필하는데 直言을 아끼지 않았으며, 정치의 근본이 언로의 확보에서 비롯된다고 역설하였다. 또 도학적 견지에서 佛敎와 道敎의 辨斥에도 남달리 노력을 기울였다. 이런 여러 가지 사실들을 근거로 볼 때 뇌계 유호인의 삶과 사상은 철저하게 도학적 성격을 띠고 있었음을 확인할 수 있다.

A Study on Noegye Yoo Ho-in's 'Dohak' Thought / Lee Sang-sung Noegye Yoo Ho-in has been studied widely as an early Joseon Dynasty's writer in the Korean academic world so far. It is true that he has an extraordinary talent in writing and he was also well-known as the best writer in his days. However, in this study, the focus is especially on the characteristic of his 'Dohak' thoughts. He was a great pupil of Jeom Pil-jae Kim Jong-jik and Kim Jong-jik had considerable influence on him. Especially, in the phase that he valued Sohak highly which is the basic textbook of 'Dohak' and tried hard to behave depended on Sohak in the daily life, it is not at all different from the lives of scholars who lived in early Joseon Dynasty. No scholar of those times was more sincere than Yoo Ho-in when supporting his parents. The fact that he regarded supporting his parents as the priority while he was an officer of the government is a typical example which shows that he devoted his life to following the teachings of 'Dohak'. Moreover, his those behaviors conform to the truth of 'Dohak' that prefer filial devotion to loyalty. He was also most cautious to widen the passage to advise for the King. He especially didn't hesitate to speak without reserve to assist the king and emphasized that the basis of the politics is on the gain of the passage to speak out for the King. He also thoroughly rejected Buddhism and Taoism on the viewpoint of 'Dohak'. Based on these facts, it can be said that the life and thought of Noegye Yoo Ho-in is completely had the characteristics of 'Dohak'.
