오늘날 정부의 무관심속에 치열한 항만 간 경쟁에서 뒤떨어진 마산항은 상대적으로 적은 물동량 처리, 항만경영의 악화 등으로 인하여 지역의 애물단지로 취급되고 있다. 마산항 활성화의 관건은 지역항만을 적극적으로 이용하도록 마산항 주변지역 수출화주들을 유인하는 것이다. 이러한 유인대책을 마련하기 위하여 본 연구는 마산항 인접지역 화주들의 항만선택 결정요인을 분석해 보았다. 연구의 방법은 항만선택에 관한 광범위한 선행연구를 실시하고, 이를 바탕으로 성공요인 도출을 위한 요인분석을 적용하였다. 본 연구는 연구가 미약한 마산항을 채택하여, 마산항 인접지역 화주가 항만을 선택할 때 중요한 요소를 추출하고, 이를 바탕으로인접화주 유치전략을 제시하였는데 연구의 의의가 있으며, 향후 마산항 활성화 전략 관련연구 및 화주유인전략 수립시 유용하게 이용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. |주제어| 마산항, 항만선택* 경남대학교
The main purpose of this paper is to evaluate the major factors influencing port choice from the perspective of exporters in Masan port areas, drawing out some policy implications for Masan port operators and authorities. The main methodology of this paper is to survey a sample of exporters in Masan port area. Employing factor analysis applied to a sample of exports in Masan port areas, this paper seeks to determine the key factors in port selection and assess their relative importance. The final sample size was comprized of 56 responses in Masan port areas. The findings have suggested that five factors (i.e. wide range of port services, low port-related costs, a port’s cargo-handling capacity, proficiency in port operation, and port networks) are important in the port selection process. It is thought that an assessment of these factors from the exporters’ perspective will be useful in providing an insight into how effective strategies for Masan port should be designed.
