본 연구의 목적은 산업재해를 당한 이주노동자들이 산업재해 이전과 이후의 한국생활에서의 경험과정을 밝히는 것이다. 다양한 배경을 지닌 22명의 이주노동자들을 심층면담하고, 면담한 내용을 Strauss와 Corbin (1998)의 근거이론 연구방법에 따라 분석한 결과, 404개의 개념, 93개의 하위범주, 29개의 범주가 도출되었다. 이러한 범주들 중 중심현상은 ‘혼자 감내하며 삭히기’, ‘고단한 일상’, ‘소외된 사회적 존재’이었으며, 이주노동자들의 한국생활에서의 경험들은 ‘생존불안 단계’에서부터 ‘타향살이 삶의 재구축 단계’로 다섯 단계를 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 이들의 산업재해 경험의 핵심 범주는 <극한의 땅에서 손상된 소모품이 되어 떠돌며 고군분투하는 삶>이었다. 또한 산업재해를 경험함 이주노동자들이 생활을 유지해 가는 유형은 현실버티기형, 은둔형, 반동형, 현실만족형, 변화탐색형으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 개인, 지역사회, 국가와 관련한 상황모형을 제시하여 이들의 다양한 상황들이 상호작용하여 어떠한 결과에 영향을 미치는지를 밝혔다. 본 연구는 산업재해를 경험한 이주노동자에 대한 연구가 거의 전무한 상태에서 이들의 한국생활 경험과정을 밝힘으로써 이주노동자들의 재활을 포함하여 지역사회와 국가가 어떻게 서비스를 지원해야 할 것인가에 대한 구체적 방안을 제공할 수 있는 틀을 마련하였다.
The purpose of this study is to find out how the immigrant workers' lives were changed due to industrial accidents in Korea. The consented twenty-two immigrant workers who experienced the industrial accidents participated in this study. Date were collected through in-depth interviews using the grounded theory suggested by Strauss and Corbin(1998). 404 concepts, 93 subcategories, and 13 categories were derived from the data analysis. In addition, the central phenomena were derived as ‘endurance alone’, ‘tired daily life’, ‘alienated social existence’. The experiences of immigrant workers' in Korea went through from ‘the stage of the anxiety in survival’ to ‘the stage of the anxiety in survival’. Furthermore, the core category was “the struggling lives which got damaged supplies in the limit land on the rove”. Based the core category, five types were derived: enduring their realities, living in seclusion, resistance, satisfaction their realities, and pursuing the change. Finally, a circumstantial model relevant to person, community, country was presented, and the interactions of various circumstances which affected the results were presented. This study initially revealed what the immigrant workers' experiences in Korea after industrial accidents would be, and the implications were suggested how the local communities and the government should provide them with customized services and policies to fit each stage and pattern.
