본 논문은 兩亂이후 기존의 사상체계와는 相異한 이론을 제시했던 하곡 정제두의 철학사상을 ‘體用’ 범주에 입각하여 분석한 것이다. 본고가 ‘체용’을 논제의 대상으로 삼은 것은 ‘體用’ 범주가 당시의 儒者들에게는 자신의 사상적 견해를 피력하기 위해 빌린 사유방식이거나 논리방법이었고, 본질적으로 ‘체용’을 통하여 그 사상적 기저에 깔려있는 세계관을 엿볼 수 있는 좋은 자료가 될 수 있었기 때문이다. 특히 하곡 정제두는 자신의 철학적 견해를 명확히 표현하기 위해 그의 師友였던 민이승과의 서간문에 圖와 圖說을 남겼는데, 이것이 곧 良知體用圖라는 자료로 남게 되었다. 본고는 이 양지체용도를 중심으로 (ⅰ)圖에 대한 구조적 탐색과 (ⅱ)體用論의 논리적 전개에 천착하였다.한국유학을 큰 틀로 보면 주자학적 성리철학 개념들이 인간을 포함한 모든 사물의 원리를 설명하면서 마음의 이치를 일부로 다루었는데 반하여, 하곡은 사람의 ‘마음’[心]에 초점을 맞추어 사람의 주체적 역량을 강조하는 학설을 제시하고자 노력했는데, 이러한 그의 학설은 당시의 ‘先知後行’의 학풍 보다는 ‘知行合一’을 강조함으로써 儒者들의 反主知主義 및 實踐指向的 학풍을 고취시킨 것으로 평가되어야 할 것이다.따라서 본고는 하곡이 ‘良知體用圖’를 통해 朱子와는 달리 ‘인간’의 주체적 역동성과 활발성을 중심으로 일원론적 관점에서 ‘心性’과 ‘義理’를 통일시킨 학설임을 강조한다. 心性과 義理는 또하나의 체용 범주가 되는 것이고, 인간에 내재되어 있는 본체로서의 良知는 현상계에 작용으로 나타나는 義理之學의 현실에 곧장 투영될 때만이 그 道學的 가치를 구현하는 것이라 할 수 있다.


This thesis aims to analyze philosophical thought of Hagok who presented a different theory from existing one in 17th-18t century, when Korean Thinking world was changing drastically, on the ground of principle and application' category. Under the social and spiritual disorder in the seventeenth century Korea, caused by two foreign invades, his unique scholarly attitude and theories not only re-examined the studies of his predecessors but also opened up a new and creative horison for the study of Confucianism Throughout Rangjicheyongdo Hagok tried to unite xinxing and yili from the view point of monism focusing on human subjective activeness and liveliness a part form Zhuzi. Xinxing and yili become another category and liangzias substance which is immanent in humans can be said that it embodies its moral philosophical value only when it is projected into the reality of the world of yili, expressed by action of phenomenal world. In the case of Ha-gok, according to my investigation of his works on Rangjicheyongdo, it merely appears that the teachings of WangYangMing is a spontaneous stage in the course of the transition from the study of Zhu-Xi to the philosophy of mind. Ha-gok's attitudes toward the Confucianism may well be regarded as the unique characteristics of the Korean Yangming school and certainly will serve as the foundation for modern researchers to progress with disputes over and arguments on the philosophy mind.
