崔恒(1409～1474)은 1434年(世宗 16)에 謁聖文科에 壯元으로 及第한 후, 1474年(成宗 5)에 66歲로 卒할 때까지 集賢殿學士 18年을 비롯하여 承旨,判書,領議政 등 여러 官職을 거치면서 學問的인 업적도 많이 남겼다. 文字.音韻學者로서 訓民正音에 의한 [古今韻會擧要] 注音事業과 새로 창제된 固有文字에 대하여 자세히 설명한 [訓民正音解例本] 執筆, 세종이 계획한 전승 한국한자음 정리 및 체계화 작업을 위한 [東國正韻] 편찬사업 등에 참여하였고, 朝鮮을 儒敎國家로 確立하기 위하여 進行된 [五禮儀] 주석, [資治通鑑] 訓義 주석, [經國大典] 편찬, [東國通鑑] 撰修事業 등에 참여하였다. 또 韻律에 관한 소질을 바탕으로 해서 [龍飛御天歌] 보수, [明皇誡鑑 歌詞] 번역, [定大業.保太平歌詞] 改作 작업에서도 주요한 구실을 하였다. 崔恒은 文章에 능하여 明나라에 내는 表箋을 거의 담당했다.

Choi, Hang(崔恒, 1409～1474) was an active politician and scholar through six kings, from King Se-jong and to King Seong-jong. Passing the civil service examination first on the list in 1434 (Se-jong 16), he served as a scholar of Jibhyeonjeon(集賢殿, Royal Academy) for 18 years. He was one of the editors of Hunminjeongeum- haerye([訓民正音解例], 1446) and Donggugjeongun([東國正韻], 1447) and complemented Riongbieocheonga([龍飛御天歌], 1447). He also participated in publishing Gyeonggug-Daejeon([經國大典], 1469).
