「布衣交集」을 둘러싼 그간의 愛情 傳奇小說 쪽 논의와 愛情 小說 쪽 논의는 각각 작품의 소설사적 지위와 근대성을 확인하는 공로가 있지만, 그 서사적 해명은 미진했다. 이 작품이 애정 전기소설의 소설 형식들을 보여주고 있다고 판단하기에, 필자는 그런 형식들이 어떻게 수용과정에서 기능하는지를 분석하였다. 愛情 傳奇小說의 소설 형식들이 텍스트로 구조화되는 성격으로서 절대성, 폐쇄성, 초월성을 꼽았다. 각각은 애정 결연 주체의 결연에 대한 태도, 결연 사건과 현실 세계 사이의 관계, 그리고 결연이 결연 주체에게 남긴 의미를 가리키는데, 「포의교집」에서 어떠한 소설 형식으로써 구현되는지를 살폈다. 초월성은 원래 애정 전기소설에서 부정적인 세계 인식과 전망의 상실에서 비롯되었는데 「布衣交集」에서는 나타나지 않았고, 그 까닭은 서술자의 시각이 여성 주인공을 위안물로 자리매김하는 士族 남성의 보수성을 띠었기 때문이라고 보았다.
I intended to analyze how the novel forms function in “Po-eui-gyo-jip”, because I believed that “Po-eui-gyo-jip” succeeded to love Jeon-gi. In the concrete, I presented absoluteness, exclusivity, and transcendency as a principles of how novel forms organize the text. That principles presented the characteristic of the love and the perspective. But the transcendency which was come out from the negative perspective of world and the loss of vision, could not be seen in “Po-eui-gyo-jip”, because the conservative narrator treated the heroine as a comfort. Therefore “Po-eui-gyo-jip” was a special text which succeed to love Jeon-gi and was estimated in the continuity of literature history and modernization.
