The purpose of this study was to examine the structural relationship among hotel employee’s psychological empowerment, self-efficacy, psychological ownerships, and prosocial service behavior in the hotel industry in Korea. This study proposed the model based on job characteristic theory, which is largely used to explain motivation strategies in organizational behavior. A two step composite sampling method is conducted by including, cluster and quota sampling based on the number of rooms in three or five star hotels in Pusan, Korea. A total of 182 valid questionnaire were used for statistical analysis. The research model and hypotheses were examined by structural equation modeling. The findings of the study are as the following: (1) Psychological empowerment has no direct effect on prosocial service behavior. (2) Psychological empowerment, however, shows an indirect effect on prosocial service behavior via self-efficacy and psychological ownerships. (3) Psychological empowerment presents higher effect on self-efficacy than psychological empowerment and the effects of self-efficacy are also higher than psychological ownerships on prosocial service behavior.
