A Study Of Rhetoric Aspects About Memorial Style Prose

본고는 소차류(疏箚類) 산문에 대한 문학적 접근방법 모색의 한 시도로 기획되었다. 동일한 정치적 사안을 두고 지어진 작품들을 비교하는 방식을 통해 그 입의 (立意)와 수사(修辭) . 본고가 대상으로 삼은 것은 허적에 대한 논란을 담은 소차들인데, 그 가운데 당대 및 후대에의 영향력과 작품성 , 그리고 당파적 입장의 안배를 고려해서 이상 (李翔)과 남구만(南九萬), 허목(許穆) 로 택했다. 이상의 작품은, 군자와 소인의 양분법적 인식을 논의 이전의 전제로 삼고 이를 근거로 몰아세우는 강경한 논지 전개가 특징적이다 . 이에 비해 남구만의 작품은 허적 본인을 직접 지목하지 않으면서 충격적인 사건의 고발과 진상 규명의 요구를 통해 결과론적으로 허적을 비판하고자 했다 . 허목의 작품은 억양 (抑揚)과 조종(操縱), 대조와 설의 등의 기법을 구사하며 부인할 수 없는 원칙을 제시하는 일반론을 앞뒤에 배치하고 , 그 가운데에 매우 직접적이고 수위 높은 정공법 (正攻法)의 허적 비판을 담았다 . 을 입론의 출발로 삼는지 , 의도의 관철을 위해 어떤 수사법을 구사하는지 , 그리고 그것의 실효가 어떠한지를 비교함으로써 소차류 산문에 대한 문학적 접근의 몇 가지 가능성을 제시하였다.

This paper is an experimental attempt to figure out memorial style prose in literary view. I picked up a case of denouncing Heo Jeok( 許積) to explain it. There are a number of writings about him, and I selected Le Sang(李翔), Nam Ku-man(南九萬) and Heo Mok(許穆)’s writings under the consideration of their literary reputation, political power and party. Le Sang tok a firm stand in his writing. He categorized men i nto honorable and dishonorable, and on the asumption that he tried to charge the opponent. He exposed his political coloring clearly, and hoped to make an isue of Heo Jeok’s behaviors in his writing. Nam Ku-man didn’t point out Heo Jeok himself in his writing, but criticized him severely by disclosing his coruption and requiring the investigation. He first quoted from historical facts and code of laws to form his idea, and then provided conc rete explanations and arguments to suport his idea. Heo Mok used several rhetorical devices, and placed undeniable facts among them. He denounced Heo Joek directly and vigorously. I pointed out fine organization, unhindered arguments and intensive expresions as his minute characteristi cs in his writing.
