여성주의는 1990년대 이후 한국 고전문학 연구의 주요 연구 방법론으로 정착했다. 여성주의와 고전문학 연구의 만남은 ‘젠더적 관점’을 고전문학 연구에 도입시킴으로써 기존의 문학사에서 외면되거나 평가절하되어 온 텍스트들을 새롭게 자리매김하여 남성중심적 편향을 시정하고, 나아가 문학사를 보완하려는 경향을 보여주었다. 그런데 여성주의적 연구가 확산, 심화되면서 관심은 자연스레 기존 문학사의 갱신, 여성문학사의 기술이 필요하다는 데까지 나아갔다. 이를 위해 여성주의적 연구는 앞으로도 여성 작가의 발굴, 여성 생활사 자료의 정리 등 자료학의 구축이 지속적으로 필요하겠지만 자료에 대한 강조가 실증주의로 경사되지 않도록 경계해야 하며, 이를 위해서는 성정치적 시각을 견지해야 한다. 또 여성생활사 자료의 정리가 주로 문헌 쪽에 집중되고 있는데 여성들의 표현 언어였던 구술 자료를 통한 여성생활사의 총체적 복원이 긴요하다. 나아가 여성에 대한 강조가 여성 내부의 다양한 차이들의 경시하는 연구 경향을 넘어 여성 내부의 타자에 대한 미시적 접근이 있어야 한다. 이런 일련의 연구는 최종적으로 여성주의적 관점에 따른 고전문학 정전의 재구성, 고전여성문학사의 기술에 이르러야 한다.
Feminism had taken root in Korean classical literature as the main research theory since 1990’. This theory showed the tendency to revise man-centered inclination and to complement the history of literature through giving the texts which had been turned away and measured low value on in the literature history new positions. By the way, by getting more deep and wide research about feminism, people have got interest in renewal of the existing literature and come to feel the necessary of a writing of a history of woman literature . For this, forward the feministic study is continuously necessary to establish materialogy, just like the scout out of women writers and the arrangement of materials for the history of woman’s life. But we must be careful for the emphasis of materials not to incline to positivism. And for this, it must be adhered to the sex political viewpoint. Also it is more necessary to have a whole restoration of the history of woman’s life through oral materials that had been the language women had expressed themselves than to have documentary records. Furthermore the emphasis about women must go beyond a research tendency which neglects diverse differences in inside of a woman. It’s necessary to make an approach to others of inside of women. This series of research must go on to the reconstruction of the canon of classical literature and the writing of a history of woman’s classical literature according to a feministic viewpoint.
