본 논문은 글쓰기를 비롯한 말글교육의 실용화 추세를 비판하고, 그에 대한 대안으로서 교육목적 설정의 필요성과 당위성을 고찰하고 있다. 현재 많은 대학은 대학국어를 대신해서 세분화되고 전문화된 글쓰기 과목군을 개설·운영하고 있다. 하지만 대부분의 경우 제대로 된 교육목적이나 정교한 교과과정 없이 실용이라는 단기적 효율성에만 의존하고 있다. 고차원적 언어능력을 탁마하는 말글교육은 풍부한 인문학적 지식과 치밀한 논리력, 냉철한 비판정신 등 한 인간의 총체적 능력을 키우는 수련법이다. 이를 통해 학습자는 자아정체성과 윤리적 감각, 세계관 등 전인적 인성을 도야할 수 있다. 이러한 말글교육의 대의를 정립하기 위해서는 교육목적의 설정이 시급하다. 교육목적은 학습참가자들의 목적의식을 고양시키고, 적극적인 실천을 유도할 수 있으며, 광범위한 장기적 학습결과를 상정하게 해준다.
This paper criticizes the practical application trend of korean language education, including writing, and investigates the need and justification of educational goals establishment. Now many Universities implement the specialized korean language writing courses, however, in most cases they're relying on short-term efficiency without proper educational goals and elaborate curriculum. Korean language education is a training of high-level language competency, and it improves overall ability of analytical reasoning and critical spirit. In this way, learners may develop self-identity, moral sense and holistic personality. There is an urgent need on establishment of educational goals in order to achieve the substance of korean language education. The proper educational goals can enhance the sense of purpose for the class participants, lead to positive action and allow to have long-term learning outcomes.
