본 연구는 경와(敬窩) 김휴(金烋, 1597～1638)의 부 문학을 살펴보고, 그의 부 문학이 갖는 특징을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 김휴는 영남에서 태어나 42년이라는 비교적 짧을 생을 살았다. 출사를 하지 않았지만 일생동안 학문을 깊이 연구하며 저술 활동에 힘썼다. 본 연구에서 대상으로 삼고 있는 김휴의 부 작품은 모두 5편으로 『경와집』 1권의 첫 부분에 실려 있다. 그의 부 작품은 그의 생몰년을 미루어 볼 때 17세기 초반 부 문학의 특징을 가지고 있을 것이라는 추측이 가능하다. 따라서 김휴의 부 문학 논의는 17세기 초반 부 문학의 특징을 연구하는 데 반드시 필요하다. 본고는 김휴의 부 작품이 갖는 형식적인 특징과 내용적인 특징을 중심으로 논의를 진행하였다. 형식적인 부분에서 표현방법의 특징으로는 용사가 상당히 많이 사용되고 있는 점과 서사의 활용이 나타난다는 점을 들 수 있다. 그리고 한 편에 불과하지만 대화의 전략을 확인할 수 있다는 점도 하나의 특징이다. 구성은 주로 ‘본’으로만 이루어져 있으며, 길이는 67줄부터 166줄까지 다양하다. 김휴의 부 작품에 전반적으로 나타나는 내용은 유가의 삶을 추구하고 그것을 실천하는 모습이다. 즉, 유가로서의 삶의 실현이 그의 부 작품 전체를 관통하고 있다. 따라서 부 작품을 통해 김휴가 살았던 모습과 그가 지향했던 삶을 엿볼 수 있다.
The objective of this study is to examine literary characteristics of Bu written by Kim Hue. Kim Hue was born in Gyeongsang-do, the southwestern region of the Korean peninsula, and lived until the age of 42. He did not serve as a government official, but maintained a lifelong academic interest, and published literary works. In this study, five bu works by Kim are examined, which are in the beginning section of the first volume of ‘Gyeongwajip.’In terms of style, Kim’s works are examined for their expression and composition. As for writing expression, the Yong-sa is widely used, and narrations are occasionally given. One of the bu works was written in a dialogue. As for composition, most have only bodies without a separate prologue or epilogue, and the length of the work varied between 67 and 166 lines. The discussion focuses on contents and style of the bu works. In terms of contents, most of his works focus on a pursuit and practice of Confucian ideas. Living a life of a Confucianist is a consistent theme throughout Kim’s writing, and his bu works reveal the way he lived and aspired to live. Given the date of his birth and death, it can be assumed that Kim’s works show characteristics of bu in the early 17th century, and discussions on his writing would provide a basis to further research on literary characteristics of bu from the period.
