중세국어에서 ‘/의’와 ‘ㅅ’이 결합되어 실현되는 명사구는 현대국어의 관형 명사구와 동일한 구조적 양상을 보이며, 최소주의 이론에서의 ‘핵-계층 구조’를 관형 명사구와 관련지을 경우, 일반적인 국어 명사구 확장 방식으로 바꾸어 볼 수 있다. 본고는 중세국어에서 ‘N1/의+N2ㅅ+N3’ 유형의 명사구를, 이러한 관형구성의 기본 형태로 간주한다. N1이 지정어, N2가 보충어, N3가 핵에 해당하는 것이며, 수식어 기능을 갖는 N1이나 N2는 상황에 따라 어느 한 쪽이 생략 가능한 것으로 본다. 나아가 ‘N1/의’와 ‘N2ㅅ’이 지니고 있는 지정어와 보충어로서의 자질 그리고 양자 간의 계층적 구조를, 기존 연구 검토 및 이론적 논의를 통하여 확인할 수 있다. 또한 투사의 원리에 비추어 볼 때, ‘N1/의+N2ㅅ+N3’ 구성은 ‘최소투사-중간투사-최대투사’를 계층적으로 실현하고 있음이 확인된다. 아울러 ‘N1/의’가 지정어 자리에서 투사를 마감함으로써, 명사구 확장이 종료되는 데서 비롯하는 의미 특성을 수식의 범위 및 대용화를 통해서 볼 수 있다.

The NP combined with ‘/의’ and ‘ㅅ’ in the medieval korean language has the same structure of the adnominal NP in the current korean language. ‘Specifier-Complement-Head’ structure of the minimalist theory can be converted to the NP-extension of the korean language. This paper thinks of the ‘N1/의+N2ㅅ+N3’ NP as the basic type of this adnominal NP. N1 corresponds to the specifier, N2 corresponds to the complement, and N3 corresponds to the head. According to circumstances, N1 or N2 which is functioning as modifier can be omitted. Furthermore, it is possible to ascertain that ‘N1/의’ has the qualities as a specifier and ‘N2ㅅ’ has the qualities as a complement through considering pre-existing researches and discussing theoretically. The hierarchical structure of ‘N1/의’ and ‘N2ㅅ’ is also ascertained. Besides, based on the projection principle, it is ascertained that the ‘N1/의+N2ㅅ+N3’ NP realizes ‘minimal projection - intermediate projection - maximal projection’ hierarchically. ‘N1/의’ terminates the projection in the place of a specifier, which means that the NP-extension is ended at that point. Some semantic features which are attributed to this fact are also ascertainable.
