이 연구에서는 우리 아동극 대본의 현황을 바탕으로 아동극 번안이 활성화하는 것이 필요하다는 주장을 하면서 이를 위해 아동극 번안에 도움을 주는 원리를 고찰하였다. 극단 학전을 이끌고 있는 김민기의 아동극은 관객과 비평가에게 호평을 받았다. 그래서 그가 번안한 대본을 연구하여 그 원리를 찾아보았다. 이 연구에서 분석한 <우리는 친구다>라는 자료는 독일 그립스(Grips) 극단의 원작 <Max und Milli>를 번안한 것이다. 타국의 언어로 된 희곡을 자기 나라 언어로 옮겨서 상연하는 극이 번역극인데, 창작극의 상대 개념으로 사용하고 있다. 번안극(飜案劇)은 이런 번역극 가운데 한 유형이다. 번안극은 먼저 희곡의 의미를 해석하여 번역한 다음에 번안자의 의도에 의해 자국에서 쉽게 이해할 수 있는 언어로 표현한 것이기 때문에 어느 정도 각색이 이루어진 극이다. 연구에서 밝혀낸 <우리는 친구다>에 나타난 번안 원리는 다음과 같다. 첫째 원작의 장점을 유지하면서 강화하기. 둘째 원작의 한계 발견하고 수정하기. 두 번째 원칙의 세부 항목에는 ‘우리 문화 반영하기’, ‘구체화한 표현 사용하기’, ‘새로운 내용 첨가하기’, ‘핵심을 나타내는 표현으로 바꾸기’가 포함된다.
This study explores some principles which can facilitate children’s theatre adaptation, claiming that children’s theatre adaptation is needed to be revitalized, in the present situation of Children’s theatre scripts. Kim Mingi, the leader of Hakjun theatre company, his children theatre is applauded by both audiences and commentators. Therefore, this study is conducted by examining his adaptation scripts. The script <we are friends> which is chosen in this writing is the adaptation of <Max und Milli> of German theatre company ‘Grips’. According to Hakjun theatre company, this script is evaluated the best among other adaptation scripts by both company members and the audience. Translation theatre is based on a script which is translated from other languages for the own languages. This is a parallel term to created theatre. Adaptation theatre is a kind of translation theatre. Adaptation theatre, firstly, interprets and translates the original script and then adapt the script for the own audience’s understanding. The principles of theatre adaptation that this study discovers is as follows：The strengths of the original script should be maintained and reinforced; The weakness of the original script should be uncovered and revised; the details of revising are ‘including own culture’, ‘employing concrete expression’, ‘adding new content’ and ‘exposing the core’.
