이 논문은 해방 이후 한국 문단의 현실정치를 주도하였던 서정주, 김동리, 조연현, 조지훈, 박목월 등이 함께 엮은 『소학생 문예독본』을 중심으로 문교행정과 문화예술(가)의 접변 양상을 고찰한 글이다. 문학독본의 구성 방식은 텍스트 선별의 과정이며, 이 과정에는 편저자의 가치 판단이 개입될 수밖에 없다. 따라서 선별의 주체가 누구인가 하는 점은 문학독본의 유형과 성격을 결정하는 데 중요한 조건이 된다. 교육자나 국어학자가 엮은 문학독본과 전문 문사(문인)가 편찬한 문학독본의 성격이나 체제가 표나게 구분되는 것은 이 때문이다. 『소학생 문예독본』을 통해 확인할 수 있는 문교행정과 문화예술의 접변 양상은 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘문교부 문화국 추천’이라는 책 표지의 표기는 단순한 언어적 행위가 아니라, 문교행정의 파급 효과를 전유하고 있는 전문 문사 집단의 정치적 무의식을 상징적으로 보여준다. 이것은 책의 엮은이가 ‘선(選)’의 가치중립성을 담보할 수 있는 예술문화 영역의 전문성을 지니고 있는 존재이자, 국가의 문교정책에서도 이격되어 있지 않음을 공표하는 것이라 하겠다. 둘째, 『소학생 문예독본』이라는 문학독본 양식은 국가이념의 전수 목적을 효과적으로 담아낼 수 있는 형식이었다. 문학독본이라는 ‘선(選)’의 형식은 학습 목표와 학습 활동을 중심으로 구성된 것이 아니기 때문에 이데올로기적 국가 기구가 제시하는 학습 내용을 선별적으로 제시할 수 있었기 때문이다.
This study inquires into the progressive assimilation between educational administration and culture-arts focused on 『Pupil’s Literary readers』 that Seo jung-ju, Kim dong-li, Jo ji-hun, Park Mok-wol wrote together. They dominated Korea literary world after Korean independence. The format of the literary readers is the process for selecting the text. through this process, a compiler’s value judgement can be involved. Therefore it can be the important conditions that determine the literary readers’s type and character. This is the reason the system and the tendency of the literary readers can be distinguished by it’s author；educators or writers. Through 『Pupil’s Literary readers』, we can examine a progressive assimilation of educational administration and culture -art. It can be summarized like following below. First, “recommended by ministry of education” written on the book cover is not just a literal expression but the political unconscious of speciality literary man group which possess exclusively a ripple effect of educational administration. It announces that the writer have culture expertise to assure value neutrality of Sun(選) and that they are deeply involved in educational policy of nation. Second, 『Pupil’s Literary readers』 is an effective form to contain the objective to deliver national ideology. Literary readers enable a writer to select learning contents because it’s not composed of learning objective and learning activity.
