본 연구는 “목회자 자녀로서 신학대학교 신학과에 진학한 남자 신입생”을 연구참여자 11명을 대상으로 한 질적 연구이다. 주된 질문은 신입생 본인의 신학과 진학에 영향을 미친 결정적 경험(critical experiences), 신학과 진학이 갖는 개인적, 가족적, 교회공동체적 의미, 앞으로의 진로 계획은 어떠한지에 관한 것이었다. 연구결과를 살펴보면 연구참여자들은 생애초기부터 부모의 기독교 신앙 안에서 양육되며 목회자 자녀에 대한 사회적 기대를 인식하고, 이를 충족시키기 위해 노력한다. 하지만, 자아정체감을 탐색하는 청소년기에 진입하면서 목회자 자녀에 대한 엄격한 사회적 평가에 힘들어하며 갈등을 야기한다. 본 연구의 참여자들은 이러한 갈등을 개별화된 신앙체험을 통해 극복하며, 결국 신학과에 진학하게 된다. 이때 개별화된 신앙체험은 목회자인 아버지와 분리되는 심리적 독립을 전제로 하며, 개별화된 “나”와 하나님과의 상호작용으로 획득된다. 특징적인 결과는 본 연구참여자들이 겪은 개별화 과정이 아버지와의 갈등적 대치가 아니라 아버지를 긍정적 역할모델로 경험하면서 이루어졌다는 점이다. 청소년기 후기에 자아성숙을 이루면서 아버지에 대한 긍정적 동일시가 나타난 점이 아버지와 같은 목회자로서 직업경로를 선택하는데 결정적 요소로 작용했다고 볼 수 있다.
The purpose of this study is to explore the process of career decision making of pastors' kids as enrolling the department of theology in University. The target of this qualitative research is to eleven participants, pastors' kids, freshmen of the department of theology in a university. The main questions are the followings: 1) How do the students of the department of theology attend significant impacts on critical experiences 2) What is the meaning for enrolling the department of theology in a university to pastors' kids, their families, and church community. As the results in this study there are the certain patterns. The participants are expected to be 'a pastor' in their early life from their parents and brought up with the social expectations in their church community. However, facing to explore self-identity in adolescence period they are struggling with high expectations as pastor's kid and strict evaluations upon them. In case of the participants of this study, these conflicts are overcome through personalized(or differentiation) in religious experience from their parents' faith. Finally they established an self-identity as the children of God by the interaction of God actively. The distinguish result of this study is that their fathers are positive role models while pastors kids have personalized process to obtain their own faith. It caused them to build up a positive self-identity as a pastor and choose the path of their fathers' career.
