≪Go≫ focuses on the love between male high-school student from Korean resident in Japan and female high-school student from Japanese upper-class salary man's family, and is exposed many problems in reality about residing in Japan such as relationship of love and hatred between the main character and father, friendship of friends in comrades of ‘residing in Japan,’ confrontation with Japanese high-school student, standing face to face with the police, and human reconciliation. This is formed very simply and dynamically centering on environment of young people. Due to breaking from the narrative structure with an oppressive feeling that was indicated by Korean-Japanese's conventional literature, it is accompanied by the criticism for 'lightly' addressing the inner contradictions of threatening the existential significances as a human being in Japanese society, and by admiration for being the work that reflected an ideal of young people who desire to free from environment of the oppressed ideology. The author asserts that he is a marginal man with calling himself as 'Korean-Japanese' while avoiding the word of Korean resident in Japan or Korean of Joseon. He insists on a point that fate or nation is actually 'just a matter of option,' by progressively escaping from the original-sin consciousness called race and homeland, which had surrounded Korean-Japanese's existing literature. This is well revealed through the symbolic motive called nationality. Nationality is turned to the optional problem from the essential problem in both son and father. The father joined the organization of the North Korea in Japan, but again changed nationality into Korean nationality, and is now admiring Hawaii. Through these looks, it emphasizes that there is necessity of being implemented into new Korean-Japanese model in the shape of Korean-Japanese father who needs to be changed, and in the shape of Korean-Japanese son who desires to be changed. This work, which is watched the intention of proceeding with subjectively overcoming the contradictory conditions of environment by changing the essence of Korean-Japanese's literature, can be said to be very significant in the history of Korean-Japanese's literature.
