Bak, Jaeyeon. 2007. 11. The Interface of SyntaxSemanticsPragmatics in the Semantic Description of Korean Grammatical Forms. Korean Linguistics 37, 181-206.This paper aims at investigating the interface of syntax, semantics and pragmatics that should be considered in describing the meanings of Korean grammatical forms. In chapter 2, I emphasize the differentiation of basic meaning from contextual meaning. However, there is no clear-cut boundary between grammatical ill-formedness and pragmatical infelicity because the pragmatic elements such as speaker, hearer, and context play an important role in Korean Grammar. In chapter 3, I suggest the possibility that the concepts of lexical semantics and pragmatics could be used in describing the meanings of grammatical forms.
