Lee, Dongseok. 2006. 11. The Actual Conditions of News and Broadcasting Language and the Language Norm. Korean Linguistics 33, 61-86. News and broadcasting language showes two sides between the Korean speakers and the Korean language norm. In respect of the spelling and pronunciation the Korean language norm doesn’t reflect the actual language of Korean speakers. In respect of the spelling the orthography of fortis consonants and sai-siot(ㅅ) is a matter of concern. And in respect of the pronunciation there are more problems than the spelling. They are as follows; the distinction of the long vowels and short vowels, the integration of the vowel ‘ㅐ’[e] and ‘ㅔ’[], the sound change of the coda in final consonant clusters, the dental spirantization of the several codas, the glottalization, the insertion of denal nasal(ㄴ) and the velarization.
