이 글은 상생화용에 대한 연구의 방향을 제시하기 위한 것이다. 기존의 연구에 기반을 두고 논의하면서도 필자가 지속적으로 관심을 갖고 있는 언어 사용 전략이라는 면에 초점을 두고 상생화용을 바라보고자 하였다. 필자는 지금까지 상생화용을 연구한 모든 논의의 가치를 인정하며, 그 연구 결과에 상당 부분 의지한다. 그러나 필자는 필자 나름대로 가지고 있는 관점에서 상생화용을 연구하여 상생화용을 균형있게 바라보고 효과적으로 보급할 수 있는 발판을 마련하는 데 도움을 주고자 하였다. 그렇게 하기 위해 필자는 상생화용이 교육 전체에서 어떤 위상을 차지하고 있으며, 국어 교과나 다른 교과와는 어떤 관계에 서는지 제시하였다. 그리고 상생화용은 고등 수준의 국어사용 능력이라는 것도 확인하였다. 그리고 앞으로 상생화용의 연구가 상생적 ‘언어 사용’의 방법에 초점을 두어야 하며, 이것은 언어의 형식과 내용이라는 두 측면에서 접근이 가능하다는 점, 상생화용은 결국 언어 사용 전략이 되어야 한다는 점을 제시하였다. 필자는 이러한 연구 방향에 근거하여 상생적 언어 사용을 위한 전략, 즉 언어 형식의 면에서 사용할 전략과 언어 내용의 면에서 사용할 전략을 개발하는 일을 계속해야 한다고 생각한다.

Sang-Saeng Language Utility is a language usage of high level. We have to conduce students from low level language usage to high level usage. The quality of Sang-Saeng language Utility depends upon the speaker's specific knowledge. A study on the Sang-Saeng Language Utility involves conceptual understanding and strategies of the context and language. Because persons of equal language skills wil vary on the quality of their language products if they possess different degrees of conceptual understanding of the Sang-Saeng Language Utility. So, we have to study the strategies of Sang-Saeng Language Utility and promote to use these strategies in the real context.
