초등학교 교사 양성을 정상화하기 위하여 몇 가지 노력을 기울여야 한다. 첫째, 가장 중요한 것은 초등학교 교사 양성 체제를 개편하여 초등학교 교사 자격 요건을 기능별로 구분하고 국어교사로서의 역할 수행에 걸맞는 위상을 찾아주는 일이다. 모든 교사는 국어 등의 주지 교과를 가르칠 수 있도록 전공 과정을 기본 과정으로 하고, 전담 교과는 선택 과정으로 하여 주지 교과(국어 등 몇 개 교과) + 전담 교과 택1(음악 등 몇 개 교과)의 체제로 전면 개편하여야 한다. 둘째, 교육과정 중 국어 시간이 차지하는 비중을 고려하여 국어 교사 양성을 위한 교육과정에서 국어교육 관련 학점의 비율을 높여야 한다. 국어 교사로서의 기본 자질인 국어 사용 능력을 길러주기 위한 국어 실기 과목의 증설, 국어교육 관련 강좌의 확대, 교육학 강좌 중 국어교육 관련 강좌의 팀티칭, 그리고 수업 실습 등에서 국어교육 실습의 강화 등이 그 방안이 될 것이다. 셋째, 교육 내용을 조절함으로써 국어교사로서의 자질 향상에 기여할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 현재의 교육과정 안에서 교육 내용이 국어교사 양성과 긴밀하게 관련되도록 강좌 내용을 구성하고, 모든 내용이 국어교사로서의 역할 수행에 연계될 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 이것은 현실적인 방안이면서 동시에 앞의 두 가지 개선 방안이 실현될 경우에도 적용하여야 할 과제이기도 하다.

The primary purpose of this study is to fine out what solutions are required for elementary school korean language teacher education in korea. This study also looked into the curriculum and certification of elementary school teacher for nurturing elementary school korean teachers and determined whether or not they were proper for the development of professionalism in Korean language teachers. There are three possibilities to develop curriculum of korean language teacher education. Firstly, extemporary solution is to exchange the contents of lectures that is related to korean language. Actually this solution is necessary to reform the curriculum and essential in korean language teacher education Secondly, reformational solution is to increase the ratio of credits that can extend abilities of korean language teachers. Thirdly, innovative solution is to exchange the certification of elementary school teacher. To receive the certification of elementary school teacher, they have to take the principal subjects courses(korean, math, science etc.). And so, other subjects courses have to be optional courses. To conclude, all the solutions to nurture elementary school korean language teachers need to be reorganized to make the teachers more professional.
