이 글은 한국어교육에 활용되는 문학텍스트에 관한 것이다. 외국어로서의 한국어교육은 무엇보다도 학습자의 의사소통 능력을 강화하려는 목적을 갖는다. 우선의 목적을 달성하기 위해 다양한 교육방법이 개발되었다. 한국어교육에서 문학텍스트를 활용하는 이유도 의사소통 능력, 즉 언어교육을 효율적으로 수행하기 위한 것이다. 그러나 문학텍스트는 텍스트의 특성상 단순히 언어교육의 자료로만 기능하지는 않는다. 그러므로 교실에서 문학텍스트를 활용할 때, 언어교육 외에 문화교육과 문학교육을 기획하는 것은 당연하고 자연스럽다. 특히 중급과 고급반에서는 문화교육과 문학교육의 비중이 커지므로 올바른 문학텍스트를 선정하고 효과적으로 활용하는 일은 중요하지 않을 수 없다. 이 글에서는 앞서 언급한 문제의식을 바탕으로 한국어교육에서 차지하는 문학텍스트의 의미를 우선 파악하였다. 외국어로서의 한국어교육에서 문학텍스트는 모국어 교육자들의 그것과는 위상이 다르다. 외국인들에게 한국어를 능률적으로 가르치는 좋은 자료일 뿐만 아니라 한국문화와 한국문학을 알리는 중요한 자료라는 점을 충분히 염두에 두어야 한다. 그러므로 텍스트 선정할 때 기준이 되어야 하는 것은 첫째, 언어교육의 효율적인 자료로 충분한가. 이는 의사소통 기능을 향상시키기 위해 효율적이어야 한다는 뜻이다. 둘째, 한국문화의 다양한 특징을 전달할 수 있는 텍스트여야 한다. 셋째, 한국문학을 대표할 수 있어야 한다. 교재를 통해 접하게 되는 한국문학은 외국인들이 처음 접하는 한국문학일 수 있으므로 한국문학의 특성을 전달하는 재료이기도 하다. 마지막으로, 교육 수월성을 높이는 자료이어야 한다 등이다. 또한 문화교육과, 문학교육은 매 단계마다 고루 이루어지는 것이 바람직하므로 수준에 맞는 텍스트를 선정하여 배치하는 것도 고려해야할 중요한 기준이 된다. 문학텍스트 선정 기준의 제시와 더불어 한국어교육 교재에 수록된 문학텍스트 수록 양상을 분석하였다. 고대, 이대, 연대 등의 교육기간에서 발간하고 활용하는 교재를 검토하여 그 안에 수록된 문학텍스트 현황 및 문제점들을 살펴보았다. 특히, 구 교재와 현행 교재를 비교하여 문학텍스트에 대한 교육 당국의 인식변화 및 그 결과를 파악하였다. 문화 및 문학교육에 대한 달라진 인식을 확인할 수 있었다.

This study tries to look into the literary text on the korean language education as a foreign language. Undoubtedly, the first reason for trying to make use of the literary text is to raise up the communication skill of korean language. But, the literary text has another aspect of education as a teaching material. It includes culture education and literature education. So, we have to think about the meaning of literary text and the standard of selection text. The literary text on the korean language education as a foreign language has a different status from the literary text on the korean language education as a native language. It works not only a text of language education but also some special text of education including korean culture and literature. Because of these reasons, a working process of setting a standard of selection text is very important. In conclusion, I try to suggest some standard of selection text on this study. First, it has to be considered that literary text is distributed throughout all of level. A prose like a traditional tale is more suitable on lower level. Reaching a higher level, it is desirable that portion of a poetry and a modern literature is getting grower. And more important one to think about is that the text represents korean literature or not. So, the level of a student, the genres of literature, the time of writing text, and the representative quality are mostly considered when select a literary text.
