The purpose of this study was to examine inservice and preservice biology teachers and professors'perception of introducing bioinformatics in order to get implication for introducing bioinformatics inbiology education. The questionnaire was constructed and designed specially for this study, and administeredto inservice and preservice biology teachers and professors. The results of this study is as follow. First, understanding of bioinformatics was high in order professors, teachers and pre-service teachers. Genomics is most popular choice as component of bioinformatics in biology teachers and preserviceteachers, but most popular choice of professors was system biology. This means perception of componentof bioinformatics was different between biology teachers and professors. Perception of professorfor importance of bioinformatics contents in biology subjects of 7th curriculum was higher than teachers. Second, perception of introducing bioinformatics in curriculum that will be revised and class wassignificantly high. Third, teachers and professors thought that introduction of bioinformatics in highschool biology subject was insufficient. Forth, teachers, preservice teachers prefered introduction ofbioinformatics as a application case, but professors preferred introduction of bioinformatics as a concepts. Genomics, proteomics and system biology were recognized as main components for introducing bioinformaticsin biology education. Follow up study of range and level of bioinformatics for introductionto biology education is needed to introducing bioinformatics in biology education. And the way howthe bioinformatics will be reflected in curriculum should be studied.
