역사적으로 보면, 현대 중국기독교는 중국의 문화,정치 등과 밀접한 관련을 지녔다. 특히 신중국 성립을 전후로 기독교가 직면한 도전은 많은 변화를 가져왔다. 그 중삼자교회와 가정교회는 그 신학적 노선 못지 않게 정교관계에 대한 관점에서 발생하는 차이 때문에 대립과 갈등의 국면에 처해있다. 삼자교회는 사회주의 현실상황을 긍정하며 그 속에서 신학적 가능성을 발견,발전시켜 나가고 있다. 이 때문에 그 신학노선도 사회주의 가치관을 긍정하는 기독교와유물론의 대화, 즉 과학적 신관, 내재적 신관을 강조한다. 이런 전체적인 기조 속에,기독교는 중국특색의 사회주의 건설에 어떻게 일조할 수 있는지를 그 신학적 과제로 삼았다. 또한 정교합일, 즉 국가가 종교를 지배하는 형태를 견지해 제한된 범위내에서 교회의 모습을 찾아나가고 있다. 반면, 가정교회는 신앙적 가치관을 우선시해 삼자교회의 신학노선을 반대했다. 또한 정교분리를 강조해 기독교의 순수성을 견지했다. 이런 두 교회의 대립은 역사적 산물로서 현재 중국기독교의 모습을 나타내고 있다. 그러나 중요한 것은 이 대립을 방관하는 것이 아니라, 두 교회의 조화와 상생을 위한 길이라 본다. 과거 정치이념이 기독교발전에 강한 영향을 미쳤다면, 현재는 급변하는 사회의 모습이 기독교의 새로운 도전이라 여겨진다. 이 때문에 두 교회는 지나치게 과거 유물에 집착하지 말고 새시대 다원화된 사회 요구에 응답해야 할 필요성이 있다. 이것이 두 교회가 중국교회로서 정통성을 이어나가는 길이라 본다.
Historically, The modern Chinese Christianity has been closely related to the culture and politics of China. Especially, The founding of New China has brought to Chinese Christianity many changes. Among them, due to the different view of relationship between religion and politics as well as theological issues, Chinese church has been in the face of an aspect of conflict or antagonism. “Three-Self Church” has developed its theological perspective with the affirmation of reality of socialism. Therefore, the theology of “Three-Self Church” has emphasized the dialog between Christianity and materialism, that is scientific or immanent God-talk. The theological task of “Three-Self Church”is to find a way how to contribute the construction of Chinese Socialism. And “Three-Self Church” is building their own church with the principle of unity of religion and politics, which means state governs church. Whereas, “House Church” has objected the theological view of “Three-Self Church” with the priority of faithful value. They have kept the purity of Christianity with the emphasis of principle of separation of Church and State. The conflict of them reflects who the Christianity of China is now as the historical products. What is important, however, is not to hold the conflict but to make harmony and coexistence of them. While the political ideology of China influenced strongly the development of Christianity in past, the challenge of Christianity is now the rapidly changing social situation. Due to the reason,Chinese Church need to react the demand of society that is getting increasingly pluralistic. That is the way for Chinese Church to succeed to orthodox of Three-Self Movement.
