Focusing on improvement in self-esteem and self-efficacy of middle school students and self-regulated efficacy and academic achievement-efficacy among sub-variables, this study was to use the group counseling program of reality therapy in order to verify effectiveness of the program by analysis on the results of pre-/post-test and follow-up for their self-esteem and self-efficacy after the program was performed, as well as qualitative analysis. The subjects of this study were 20 female third graders of a middle school student in Y city, and they were divided into experimental group and control group of each 10 students. The title of the program was ‘Know myself and be happy’ and it consisted of 6 sessions: ‘I who want’, ‘I who choose’, ‘I who express’, ‘I who thank’, ‘I who are pleasant’, and ‘I who are loved’ in order. In conclusion and discussion, comprehensively considering the results of quantitative analysis and self-rating qualitative analysis, the group counseling program of reality therapy showed a possibility that youths may react in a more constructive and positive direction in doing an act by enhancing their self-esteem and self-efficacy.
