This study aims at explore possibility of using paratext for novel interpretation education. In order to achieve this purpose, this study considered concept and category of paratext following theory of Genette(1987). As taking a theoretical approach, paratext is embodied in ‘thresholds of interpretation’. It is significant that paratext is utilized for reason of interpretation in novel interpretation education. Following foregoing discussion, this study examined applications of paratext and exemplified each of the points making with a <A autobiography that isn’t written>. To sum up, paratext is effective in ‘set up a direction of realization of meaning’, ‘organization a context of meaning’ and ‘communication with realized meaning’. In novel interpretation education, these possibilities of using paratext emphasize ‘learning-reader as an interpreter’ activeness and growth potential.
