지형 단원의 수업은 지표의 기복 형태를 파악하는 것으로부터 출발하여야 한다. 그동안 지리교육 현장에서는 이와 같은 기복 형태 파악을 위한 학습 도구로써 주로 대축척 지도를 이용하여 단면도를 그리거나 지형 모형을 제작하여 왔다. 최근에는 위성 영상이나 GIS 프로그램을 활용하여 제작한 3-D 영상을 활용하기도 하지만, 학생들이 직접 작업에 참여하지 못하는 경우가 대부분이기 때문에 학습 효과를 거두기가 쉽지 않다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 현장 실정을 고려하여 컴퓨터 실습실에서 마이크로소프트사의 엑셀프로그램을 활용한 3차원 지표 기복 형태 구현에 초점을 맞춘 수업 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이러한 수업 과정을 통해 학생들은 야외 조사를 실시하지 않고도 지표 기복을 비교적 손쉽게 파악할 수 있을 것이며, 더 나아가 도해력 향상, 수업 참여도 제고, 컴퓨터 활용 능력 향상, 자기 주도적 학습 효과 등을 달성할 수 있을 것이다.
In physical geography education, it is said that the recognition of relief in the landform is one of the most important objects necessary for students to learn. The topographic map is among the most frequently used tools that geography teachers utilize for this in their class. Capitalizing on the rapid development of ICT, there have been an increasing tendency that image materials such as satellite images and GIS-based 3-D images are used for learning the landform. However, it is also true that it is still not so easy to use such expensive materials in school class, so that students make a little chance to directly participate in their geography class. Considering these circumstances of geography teaching, this paper aims to propose a method of visualizing the relief with personal computer. We adopted to apply MS Excel program as a tool for recognizing the relief in geography class, because the program is easy to use and cheap to buy. Using the Excel program, it is expected that students will be able to directly participate in the work of visualizing the relief. In addition, students, after these work, are able to not only improve the graphicacy of a plane map but also easily recognize the relief of landforms in the map. Finally, teachers must feed back with satellite images or 3-D images.
