본 연구의 목적은 미국의 학교선택제 도입의 이상 (理想)과 시행과정 및 결과의 실상 (實相)을 . 이를 위하여 이 연구에서는 학교선택론의 배경 및 도입경과 , 학교선택제의 유형 , 학교선택제 효과성 연구 , 미국 학교선택제의 운영실태, 미국 학교선택제의 이상과 실상 , 한국 교육상황에의 시사점 등을 다루었다 .미국 학교선택제의 시사점은 다음과 같다 . 첫째, 학교선택제의 1차적 목적을 기본권적 교육권을 돌려주는 데 두어야 한다 . 둘째, 학교선택제 논의를 고등학교에서 초등학교와 중학교로 확대할 필요가 있다 . 셋째, 고교평준화제도를 유지하되, 선지원후추첨제를 도입할 필요가 있다 . 넷째, . 다섯째, 미국의 학교선택제는 매우 다양한 스펙트럼을 가진 정책이기 때문에 적용가능성도 구체적인 프로그램과 관련지어 논해야 한다 . 여섯째, 학생 수에 따라 교육재원을 배분하는 방식을 통한 학교간 경쟁을 유도하는 방안을 검토할 필요가 있다 . 일곱째, 야 한다.[주제어] 학교선택제, 헌장학교, 바우처제도, 공립학교선택제
