대학생들의 봉사활동 참여가 증가함에 따라 대학에서 자체적으로 봉사활동 프로그램들을 실시하고 있지만, 대학 봉사활동 프로그램들이 체계적으로 분류되거나 효율적으로 관리되지 않는 것이 현실이다. 이에 본 연구는 국내 대학에서 실시되고 있는 자원봉사 프로그램 현황을 파악하고, 그 현황을 기존의 자원봉사 분류체계(자원봉사 기본법, 서울시 자원봉사센터)와 비교한 후, 대학 자원봉사실정에 맞는 분류체계를 제안하는 것에 그 목적을 두고 있다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 전사협 소속 221대학을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 815개 봉사 프로그램을 분석에 사용하였다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 분류체계는 4단계로 이루어져 있다. 전문가 집단 회의를 바탕으로 봉사 프로그램의 주관 단체에 따른 분류(자체봉사, 위탁봉사, 협력봉사), 봉사 프로그램의 보상 및 장려 정책에 따른 분류(학점봉사, 장학봉사, 졸업봉사, 유급봉사, 순수봉사)가 이루어졌다. 그리고 봉사프로그램명과 내용을 상세히 기술하게 한 개방형 질문 결과를 바탕으로 실시된 내용분석을 통해 봉사지역에 따른 분류와 봉사활동 성격에 따른 분류가 이루어졌다. 봉사 지역에 따른 분류는 국내봉사와 해외봉사로 나누었으며 국내봉사는 다시 지역내 봉사와 타지역 봉사로 구분하였다. 국내봉사 활동의 봉사활동 성격에 따른 분류는 지역내 봉사와 타지역 봉사가 따로 이루어졌는데 지역내 봉사는 교육봉사, 문화체육봉사, 보건봉사, 환경봉사, 생활도우미봉사, 재해복구 및 건축 봉사로 분류되었으며 타지역 봉사는 농촌봉사, 교육캠프봉사, 건축봉사, 의료봉사로 구분되었다.
As volunteering of college students has increased, many universities have provided several volunteering programs for their students. However, universities have not had any system to categorize or manage their volunteer programs effectively. Thus in the current study, we identified volunteer programs(815 programs) offered by universities in Korea and applied the identified volunteer programs to existing classification systems of volunteer works. However, the existing classification systems were not appropriate to use for college volunteer programs. Thus, based on the survey on individuals of the volunteer service offices at 221 universities, we developed the classification system of college volunteer programs including 4 steps. The first step is classified based on the supervising organization(university volunteering, contracted volunteering, & joint volunteering) and the second step is based on the volunteer promoting policy(college credit, scholarship, graduating requirement, paid, pure/altruistic). The third step is classification based on the geographical location where the volunteering work is performed(overseas, domestic-community, domestic-out of community). The final step is based on the purpose/characteristics of the volunteering programs. Domestic-community volunteering includes 6 categories (education, culture·sports, health, environment, life-support and disaster·construction) while domestic-out of community volunteering includes volunteering for rural communities, volunteering for education camps, volunteering for construction, and volunteering for medical service.
