본 연구는 Webb(2002) 등의 선행연구를 토대로 하여 근 위축 증후의 유형 중 가장 빈도가 높은 듀센형 근 위축증(Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: DMD)의 특징과 학습장애를 수반하는 DMD의 관련연구들을 분석하고, 이에 대한 부모의 대처 전략을 탐색제시하는데 목적이 있다. DMD의 학습장애를 수반하는 유형은 언어 발달 지체, 주의력 집중 문제, 읽기 장애, 쓰기 장애, 수학 장애 등으로 나타났다. DMD에 대한 부모의 대처 전략은 장애의 이해, 부모와 아동의 태도 측면에서 논의제시하였다. 이러한 연구를 통하여 특수교육 및 교육정책과 관련된 전문가와 일선 지체부자유 학교 현장에서 근무하고 있는 교사들 및 이들의 가족에게 듀센형 근 위축증(DMD)에 대한 유용한 정보를 제공하고자 한다.


The purpose of this study was to explore and present the symptoms of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy(DMD) for student with physical and multiple disabilities based on the study of Webb et al. The most common of muscular dystrophy is Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy(DMD). First of all, the study analyzed and presented the characteristics of DMD, learning disabilities and parent coping strategies. The types of learning disabilities seen in children with DMD include verbal delays, attention problems, reading disabilities, writing disabilities, and mathematics disabilities. The study presented information regarding parental perspectives and coping strategies in relation to DMD and learning disabilities. Finally, this study provides special education, teacher and parent with useful informations about the symptoms of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
