Nature Imagery was continuously exploited in the Six Dynasties, as the poets were in keeping with the aesthetic movement. That is a reason why the patterning and functions of nature imagery in boudoir lament poetry underwent a shift paralleling the aesthetic movement. It is found that there was a certain tendency in boudoir lament poetry with regard to the shift of nature imagery. When the poetic emphasis was on the lyric statement, the poets selected autumn scenery to enhance the lyric quality. If the poets fetishized the "long wife", spring scenery was commonly used. The function of spring imagery was to stir her amorous desire.
