본 연구의 목적은 기업의 지배구조와 사회활동 및 환경경영이 기업가치에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하는 것이다. 2000년대 초 한국기업지배구조센터가 설립되었고 설문조사 등을 통하여 개별기업의 지배구조평가를 실시하였다. 한국기업지배구조센터는 2010년 이후 지배구조평가에 사회 및 환경평가를 추가하여 ESG평가모형을 개발하였다. 이에 본 연구는 2010년－2011년의 상장기업과 코스닥기업을 대상으로 기업의 지배구조와 사회활동 및 환경경영의 대용치인 ESG평가지수를 이용하여 기업가치와의 관련성을 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 기업지배구조와 사회활동 및 환경경영의 통합지수인 ESG평가모형의 ESG평가지수와 기업가치의 관련성 뿐 아니라 기업지배구조평가지수(GOVE), 사회평가지수(SOC), 환경평가지수(ENVI) 개별의 평가지수와 기업가치의 관련성을 분석하였고 가설을 설정하였다. 실증연구 결과 ESG평가지수와 각각의 개별평가지수 모두 기업가치(TobinQ)와 유의한 양(＋)의 관련성을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 좋은 지배구조를 가지고 사회 및 환경활동이 활발한 기업의 기업가치가 높다는 결과를 보여준다. 추가분석으로 당해 연도(t) ESG평가지수와 다음 연도(t＋1) 기업가치 관련성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 앞서 분석한 결과와 동일하게 유의한 양(＋)의 관련성을 가지는 것으로 기업의 지배구조와 사회 및 환경 활동의 평가지수는 당해 연도의 기업가치는 물론 다음 연도에도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
The purpose of this empirical study is to analyze impacts of corporate governance structure, social activities, and environmental management on corporate values (Tobin Q). In the early 2000s the Korea Corporate Governance Service was established. Through surveys, individual corporate governance assessment was conducted. Since 2010, by adding the environmental and social activities of governance evaluation, we have developed an ESG evaluation model. Therefore, in this study, the author targeted and analyzed KOSDAQ and companies listed in the years 2010－2011. Hypotheses are as follows: In this study, corporate governance and social activities and the integration of environmental management evaluation model of index, ESG Index and Corporate value will have a positive association；Corporate Governance Index (GOVE), Social Activities Index (SOC), Environmental Performance Index (ENVI), index of individual and corporate value will have a positive association. According to the findings of the study, ESG Index, individual evaluation index, and corporate value have a significantly positive (＋) relevance. A positive impact of the good governance, society and the environment on the corporate values is very high. Further analysis of ESG Index for the current year (t) and the following year (t＋1) was carried out to see any relevance between them and corporate value. As a result, the same positive (＋) relevance as the former analysis showed up：Corporate governance and social and environmental activity evaluation index influenced the enterprise value during the following year as well as the current year.
