이 연구는 북한사회에 극심한 변동을 가져온 고난의 행군 이후 북한여성들이 수행한 기존 규범에 경합하는 성적실천의 의미를 해석하고자 했다. 북한에서 그 시기를 지낸 탈북여성들의 구술 자료를 통해 일상에서의 성경험을 파악했다. 북한권력은 집단주의와 가부장 질서를 통치 규범으로 내세우며 개인의 욕망을 억압해왔다. 국가가 구축한 집단주의적 규범은 고난의 행군 이전까지 인민들을 규율하며 일상에서 무리 없이 작동하고 있었다. 그러나 장기간의 식량난과 경제난은 특히 여성들에게 새로운 생존 방식과 기존의 규범에 대한 변화를 강구하는 계기가 되었다. 북한여성들은 장마당과 밀수 등의 경제활동을 통해 사적 이익을 앞세웠고, 기존의 규범을 넘어서는 성경험으로 확장하였다. 여성들의 성적실천은 기존의 규범에 경합하는 파편화된 개인의 경향을 보이면서 한편으로는 국가담론에 조우하는 이중적 생존 전략을 보이고 있었다. 급변하는 환경에서조차 가부장 질서는 견고한 통치기제이자 내구성 있는 문화체계로 구축되어 있었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 고난의 행군기 이후 규범에 경합하는 북한여성들의 성적실천은 새로운 생존전략이었으며, 권위주의적 사회에 저항하고 변모하는 개인의 가능성을 의미한다.
This study sought to interpret the meaning of sexual practices that are performed after the conflict in the North Korean women Arduous March brought the extreme fluctuations in North Korean society existing norms. Sexual practices of women held the tendency of individuals to contend with fragmentation of the existing norms hand, was showing a dual strategy to survive encounters national discourse. Nevertheless, the sexual practices of North Korean women competing after the Arduous March period was the new norm is a survival strategy, it means the possibility of personal transformation and to resist the authoritarian society.
